Speed Triangle (Copy the triangle and how to use it in you SNB.)
DSTSpeed Triangle.jpg

How to use the formula triangle:
Whatever it is you want to calculate,
cover it up with your finger and observe the formula.
•Calculate speed? Cover up speed. Your formula is distance/time.
•Calculate distance? Cover distance. Your formula is speed X time.
•Calculate time? Cover up time. Your formula is distance / speed.
(Compare this triangle to the three formulas on textbook page 343 and problem solve.)

Velocity Problems (Look at the formulas on page 343)
(Solve and show your work in your SNB.)
1. After being launched from a canon, Elmo traveled 5 km in 4 seconds. What was Elmo’s average speed?
2. Big Bird tried to fly south for the winter. If he travels at an average speed of 2 km/h, how far will he have gone in 12 hours?
3. Oscar the Grouch drove his Grouch-mobile at a speed of 75 km/h. If he maintains this speed, how much time would it take him to travel 10 km?
4. Grover was running south on Sesame Street. What was his velocity if he traveled 1 km in 10 minutes?
(Everyone can multiply and divide, so problem solve/think.)

Vectors (Copy & Complete in your SNB. Help starts on textbook page 399.)

Last chance to finish T-Charts and Graphs 1 & 2 in class.

10/29
Work on T-Charts and Graphing 1 & 2
Graph Functions 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, & 13 or 15.
The lines from patterns 8, 9, & 10 should be on the same graph.
Lines for patterns 11 & 12 should be on the same graph.
Lines for patterns 13 or 15 can be on the same or different graphs.

10/27 & 28
Convert Review 1

T-Charts Graphs 2
Make T-charts for functions 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, & 13
Include the description of the pattern as a function.
Finish graph patterns 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7
Lines for patterns 2, 3, & 4 should be on one graph.
Lines for patterns 5, 6, & 7 should be on another graph.
(Students previously made T-Charts for patterns 2 through 7 and started graphing.)
Patterns can be found at this link:
